Mental Wellness Program Coordinator
Salary: $43.26-48.66
Type: Permanent, Full-time. 35hrs per week
Position Summary
The Niislaa Naay Mental Wellness Program Coordinator splits their time between coordinating the overall mental wellness programs, along with maintaining a part-time Mental Health & Addiction Clinician practice for individuals and families. Liaises with physician, nursing unit staff, and other health care professionals, building capacity through supporting care planning and providing education to health care professionals, networking with appropriate community programs, and supporting coordinated transition to community.
The Mental Wellness Program Coordinator reports to the Health Director.
Roles and Responsibilities
Plan, organize, direct and coordinate the activities of mental health care programs and activities.
Supervise multi-disciplinary staff, including licensed mental health care providers, nurses, and support
staff, service providers under contract.
Analyze and evaluate the operations and services of mental health and substance abuse programs,
including those of contract providers.
Develop, and enhance existing policy to help support the respectful, safe and sustainable provision of
mental wellness services.
Direct complex budget activities.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing, and before large groups.
Make effective recommendations regarding staffing and other personnel matters.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of theories, practices, and principles relative to mental wellness, suicide prevention, Trauma- Informed Care, and mental health emergency response, particularly relative to First Nations in BC, including the current programs and services available.
Knowledge of substance use and addiction, mental health, trauma, and harm reduction.
Ability to lead and organize a team and communicate effectively.
Understanding of budget preparation and monitoring, including grants, contracted services, fed. & prov. funding.
Understanding of Collaborative Care models of health service provision.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Education, Training, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, health sciences, social work (or a related degree).
4 years related experience, including that in a leadership role, or an equivalent of education, training, and
experience in a clinical setting.
Qualify as a Registered Health Professional under the BC Health Professions Act with the relevant
professional association.
Two years of experience coordinating and/or supervising mental health, substance abuse programs(2)
and/or traditional wellness programming.
